Why RoadDave is not updated

I’ve been asked by a few followers why RoadDave is not updated and it is time to give you the answer. The audience is the answer: Bots, trolls, the medically unwell and the under-medicated. Political monomaniacs who can’t discuss anything, or even acknowledge that there are other realities outside their own tiny echo chamber. The comments I’ve received over the years have been mostly ok, but so many are vicious, vindictive, violent and objectionable beyond any possible redemption. So, to simplify, fuck it. I don’t need, want or warrant that kind of hysterical abuse in my life. I’ll keep the site up, but that’s it for content. To those who enjoyed it, thank you. For the haters? Bye! I win, you lose.

  1. Sorry to see you go, my friend. Have you considered maybe shutting off comments, or (says through gritted teeth) going over to substack behind a pay wall? (Where I won’t be able to make smartass comments, but I will read. Win for you! 😀 ) Just a thought – we need all the inspiration we can get!

  2. I just found your writings (and everyone else’s I guess) on the discos in Ottawa on the late 60s/early 70s. It was a pleasure to read and brought back so many memories. The Chaud, the Rib, the Ottawa House. You could find my little red Triumph GT6 parked outside many a club. And if I’d get stopped by the police, they’d say, you’ve been drinking young lady, you’d better go straight home now. And I did – 90 mph down the Queensway. One disco I couldn’t find, or maybe missed was the mouspateque – no idea how to spell it. It was in the east end in some motel and had a cage that people danced in. Spent many nights there. Good memories and now I’m a Grandmother and enjoying every minute of that.
